Vista Media Productions has developed a technology-based digital approach to video and audio post-production which is implemented with a network of seventeen computers all linked together to share video images and audio files. The network connects all four of the major post-production areas described below. Vista Media also has a DSL digital link to the Internet to provide high-speed access for the receipt and transfer of image and audio files.
Linear/Nonlinear Editing Suites: A, B, C roll time code editing to MII, Betacam SP, One-inch, or D-9. The D-9 machine provides multi-layering pre-reading digital editing. Capabilities for this edit suite include Alladin 3D DVE with Warp, Perspective, Defocus, High-lighting, Inscriber Character Generator and Paint; Video Toaster with Digital Effects, CG, Paintbox, and Lightwave 3D; Four channels of Still Store; Photo/Graphics Scanner; and Eight-track Studio 16 digital audio recorder/player with SMPTE time code. An integrated Video Toaster 2 Nonlinear editing capability provides real time digital effects. A wide variety of animated scenes and effects are possible with Newtek's Lightwave software.
DV Editing/DVD Authoring Suite: Time code capture or Firewire control with the Pinnacle ProOne System for automated capture of video clips. The system provides a wide range of real time 2D and 3D effects through the Pinnacle hardware and the nonlinear Adobe Premiere software.
Perception Non-Linear Editing Suite: A DPS Perception Non-Linear editing system available for applications where the video has been shot on non-timed coded video tape such as VHS, SVHS, Hi8, 8mm, Digital 8, DV, or EdBeta. The video is digitized and edited in the computer using Insync Razor software.
CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) Graphics Workstations: Workstations integrated into each post-production editing suite providing the editor the capability to create online graphics that match the video being edited. Vista Media also uses Lightwave 3D offline to provide the capability to produce all types of special effects for video post-production. Some of the capabilities include 2D and 3D logo/object animation, 2D and 3D morphs (metamorphosis effects), rotoscoping with live video scenes, and 2D character type “cell” animation. Animations can be recorded to any of several videotape formats or transferred as digital files to digital tape.
Digital Audio Recording and Editing Suite: Capability to record narration can be directly onto computer hard drives through the use of the digital audio recording system, which provides 16/24 bit audio recording with sampling rates up to 92 kHz. Voice-overs are done in the announcer booth. Audio editing is done using one of the PC computers with a number of audio software editing programs. The audio editing equipment can provide input/output via DAT, 1/4-inch reel-to-reel, audiocassette, VCR, CD (input only), Zip data disks or Jaz data disks. Audio capabilities also include layback audio to online VCRs. MP3 and WAV audio files can be sent and received over the high speed DSL Internet link.
Miscellaneous Production and Web Services: Vista Media Productions offers other services required for video projects such as script research and writing, story boarding, research for stock footage and talent casting. Vista Media has a wide range of production aides such as a font library, music library, background library, stock footage, and online paint. Vista Media also offers Web Design software and services. All the Tools for electronic media production are in One Place with the capability to offer a complete solution to integrated audio, video and web projects. |
